Welcome to this edition of the LGfL SafeguardED newsletter. Please read on to find out about:

As we start to prepare for the next academic year, in due course we will update our KCSIE resources and our Policy and Letter templates for you to utilise. So do keep an eye out for further updates!

Preventing Exploitation in Schools

Children as young as seven are exploited in England, which make this an issue for all schools to understand and effectively respond to. 

LGfL has been working with Unique Talent, who co-deliver our Safeguarding Children from Criminal Exploitation training, to offer insights into their own unique lived experiences of being groomed and exploited.

We are delighted to announce that we have published our new CCE Page, which includes a 2-part podcast with Unique Talent hosted on YouTube, Spotify & Apple Podcasts, discussing CCE and how schools can better understand, recognise, intervene and prevent this harm.

As well as shorter clips, ideal for staff CPD.

Got your AI Approach sorted?

A recent report from the NEU, stated that over half of schools in England, Wales and Northern Ireland do not have any form of AI policy.  Although there is no requirement for English schools to have a standalone AI policy, the safeguarding, data protection and ethical risks associated with the use of AI platforms mean that it is critical that every school has a considered approach, reflected in their policies and practice.

We are hosting a free webinar on Tuesday 19th May at 3:30pm where we'll walk you through how the AI Toolkit can work for your school, with practical tips to help you get started with confidence.

Safe Skills

We have recently updated the Safe Skills platform, our award-winning online safety quizzing platform for KS2/3. Based on the 8 strands of online safety in UKCIS' guidance, you can use Safe Skills to perform assessments of your pupils' knowledge of online safety. In doing so, you can plan your curriculum accordingly and measure progress.
