Getting started with LGfL

Black History Month - Reading Zone Live events

RZL-1

To celebrate Black History Month this month Reading Zone Live is pleased to announce -

Brilliant Black British History with Atinuke

Wednesday 16th October, 2 pm - 2.45 pm for KS2 pupils.

Author and storyteller Atinuke was born in Nigeria and grew up in Lagos with her three siblings. She has always loved stories, and she has been sharing stories and writing her own, including Anna Hibiscus books and Baby Goes to Market, as well as non-fiction. Join Atinuke to learn about Black History in Britain as she introduces you to historical facts about Britain's Black history in her book, Brilliant Black British History.  An eye-opening story of Britain, focusing on a part of our past that has mostly been left out of the history books. Did you know that the first Britons were Black? Or that some Roman soldiers who invaded and ruled Britain were Black?

Join this fascinating journey through the ages, brought to life through Atinuke's storytelling and illustrated scenes, detailed maps, and timelines created by illustrator Kingsley Nebechi.

This event will help mark Black History Month and is aimed at KS2 students.

Email 'Black History Month' to info@readingzone.com to book a free place.
