Can inclusion ever be Just2easy?

The "Included Conversation" podcast recently hosted Charlie from Just2easy for a powerful discussion on what inclusion truly means in an educational setting. The takeaway is clear: we're moving away from a rigid, "one-size-fits-all" model toward an approach that is fundamentally learner-centric.

Charlie emphasised the importance of knowing our students as unique individuals, understanding their specific needs and potential barriers—whether academic, physical, or emotional.

As you are aware, J2e is an award-winning cloud platform that offers a suite of online tools and games for UK primary schools, available free to all LGfL subscription schools as part of the service. It helps teachers deliver the curriculum and makes it easy for children to be creative and collaborate, all in one safe and secure environment. It also includes tools for teacher assessment and parental engagement.

Turning access into independence: new curriculum blog

We have also created a curriculum blog to go alongside the podcast. This expands on the discussion of inclusion and examines how J2e, through the LGfL platform, can support inclusive practice, as well as the various aspects of the J2e suite of tools that facilitate inclusive practice.

Free School Meals and Pupil Premium Checker

Are your school aware of the LGfL Free School Meals (FSM) Eligibility Checker?

It is a free online service that helps parents and schools in England quickly and easily check a child's eligibility for benefits-related Free School Meals and the associated Pupil Premium funding. This Free School Meals Eligibility Checker has identified £232 million in funding for schools since 2014.

We are currently rolling out a new FSM Checker to replace the old system.

Next SEND DSL Forum  27th November

The next SEND DSL Forum is scheduled for 27th November at 15:45, where we will be exploring Child and Adolescent Violence towards Parents/Carers.

This session will be co-facilitated by Alice from Respect, the UK charity that focuses primarily on Child and Adolescent to Parent Violence and Abuse (CAPVA) and addressing Teenage Relationship Abuse.

This session will explore Child and Adolescent to Parent Violence and Abuse (CAPVA), covering its prevalence, key indicators, and impacts on parents, siblings, and the young people involved. It will highlight recent research on neurodivergent young people who use harm and how schools can best approach the issue with parents and young people.

To book your place, please visit: https://safetraining.lgfl.net

Take a look at the resources from all the previous sessions at  https://sendforum.lgfl.net

Please feel free to share this invitation with DSLs who work with SEND pupils from any other school, as it is available free of charge for all.

Busy Things 'Special Events' resources

Screenshot 2025-10-23 144341

It's a busy half-term now, with the lead-up to Christmas, but don't forget that within Busy Things, there are many resources available to support special events. The Special Events and Celebrations resources in Busy Things are designed to provide interactive games, activities, and curriculum-linked materials to support teaching around the many holidays, seasonal changes, and special observances that occur throughout the school year.

This half term, there are resources to support Autumn, Bonfire Night, Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday, Road Safety Week,  Children in Need, Maths Week England and National Tree Week.

The resources often include fun, colourful, interactive activities and crafts that can break up regular lesson plans and inject excitement into the classroom.

The resources are typically categorised by month and linked to appropriate educational levels (e.g., EYFS, KS1, KS2 in the UK system), ensuring suitability for different age groups.

In essence, they are a toolkit to help educators celebrate and teach about cultural, historical, and seasonal events in a way that is fun and educational.
