Mental Health and Wellbeing update

LGfL: Supporting your mental wealth

LGfL's Mental Health and Wellbeing service offers online training,  blogs, forums and resources (UDL, Wellbeing Connected, and Healthy Minds ) and is intended to support schools to develop a positive culture and talk about "mental wealth".

We have published two MHWB blogs. 'Reset for Senior Mental Health Leads: A Call to Whole-School Wellbeing a guest blog from our mental health and well-being expert, Kelly Hannaghan, considering how to:

'Look up, look around, Reconnect, and RESET'

The latest blog post dives deep into this year's training catalogue. We've significantly updated LGfL's Mental Health and Wellbeing training to incorporate the most recent research and reflect the current educational landscape. This post gives you a comprehensive insight into our full offerings, including a look at our new, in-depth 'masterclass' approach.

A reminder of the *new* MHWB forum

Join us at our first Mental Health and Wellbeing forum. This is in the same vein as the safeguarding SEND DSL forum to promote more of a sharing community and foster relationships. Our first one is on 13th November, and we will be discussing EBSA (emotionally based school avoidance).

Busy Things new 'Skylarks' resource

Sky Larks:  a new suite of spelling games. It's an expansion of their popular "Miner Birds" games, designed to make spelling more fun, playful, and competitive.

Like Miner Birds' players are 'birds' collecting gnats by answering spelling questions - the more gnats, the harder the spelling. The first player to 20 gnats is the winner.

Sky Lark is a spelling practice activity that supports KS2 Statutory Spelling words from the National Curriculum (English Appendix 1: Spelling).

It's a versatile tool:

  • Use it as a fun starter for English or SPaG, or for daily practice.

  • Children can play individually, with peers, or as a class (pupils vs. teacher).

  • Settings can be discreetly adjusted for students working above or below age expectations.

  • Printable/saveable spelling lists are available for off-screen practice.

  • Teachers can assign the activity to see feedback on correct/incorrect spellings from each pupil, helping to monitor progress and identify areas needing further work.

Just2Easy J2pdf

Did you know that J2e has a tool called J2pdf?

Screenshot 2025-09-25 124503

It is a highly versatile tool that you get as part of your ongoing LGfL subscription.

It is designed to transform static PDF worksheets into fully interactive and editable digital documents that students can complete online.

J2PDF converts a PDF file into a J2Create document using the original PDF as a background image. This allows users, particularly teachers and students, to enhance the document with interactive elements.

  • Interactivity: It allows users to add features like text boxes, images, shapes, sound recordings, and videos to the PDF

  • Editing & Annotation: Teachers and pupils can annotate the document, add text, and include graphics.

  • Merging: Multiple PDFs can be merged into one document, and pages can be easily moved or deleted.

  • Sharing: The created or annotated documents can be easily shared with a class or individual learners through the platform.
