Meet a Polar Explorer - Polar Exploration Arctic Pupil Event
On the 17th of October, Antony Jinman gave a presentation to pupils about his most recent expedition - Arctic Quest 22. Where he travelled to Svalbard, between Norway and the North Pole, and also about his time in Greenland this summer.

EdTech Hubs
First Study Tour at Award-Winning Highfurlong Primary School
On the 10th of October, the first EdTech Hub Study event saw visitors from Primary, Secondary and Further Education from the Northwest region visit the award-winning Highfurlong School, to see the expert staff in action supporting learners with a range of SEND needs. The tour ended with an expert panel discussion with Q&A from visitors. The next study tour is planned for early December in London. Further details are available here
East of England EdTech Launch Event
On the 18th of October, the East of England EdTech Hub was launched with an online event featuring lead schools from Suffolk and North Essex.

The agenda for the session focussed on the rationale behind moving to one-to-one device ratios and how to secure the leadership backing and finance to make it a reality.
Educational Resources to Raise Awareness of Extremism
Counter Terrorism Policing and LGfL have joined forces to launch Act Early Stories, a series of free educational activities and lessons for schools and youth centres designed to raise awareness of extremism and promote critical thinking.
Based on three real-life stories of young people whose lives have been affected by radicalisation, Act Early Stories includes powerful videos and ready-to-use session slides, designed to spark discussion and support vulnerable young people. To help build confidence and reduce workload it also contains guidance notes, so teachers and youth workers can either use the entire session or individual activities.
Google has listened to teachers and developed a new round of training opportunities for teachers in LGfL schools. They are initially launching several workshops that are interactive, pedagogically focused sessions based around Google Workspace and Chromebooks.
What are the Workshops about?
The half day workshops will have Chromebooks provided and include the following topics:
