These resources can support you in teaching about the history of the conflict, with guidance on having sensitive and difficult conversations:

        • Parallel Histories challenge students to examine a range of sources in order to debate and discuss different viewpoints in a polite and respectful way
        • Solutions Not Sides provides class activity packs to discuss the conflict with multimedia, questions, time for reflection, and scope for further learning
        • Educate Against Hate also has a new blog post to help you speak about the news, ongoing conflicts & hold discussions on difficult topics with students

        Risk Assessment

Schools need to assess the risk of pupils being drawn into terrorism. You can use the DfE's Risk Assessment template along with their Self-Assessment Tool to help understand how well embedded your Prevent policies and practices are.

        Did you know?

        • The updated guidance emphasises decision-making should be informed by the terrorism threat picture, and any activity should be proportionate to the local risk? You can understand more about your local risk and threat picture (sometimes referred to as a counter-terrorism local profile or CTLP) by engaging with your local authority or local policing - the DfE’s Regional Prevent Education Coordinators (RPECs) can help you understand who the relevant partners are in your locality and how to contact them.
        • We run a FREE 1-hour interactive workshop to help schools audit, evidence and risk-assess their provision. Suitable for DSLs, SLT and Governors, you will leave with an action plan to help identify areas for development. Sign up for the Prevent in Practice Interactive Workshop

        Online Radicalisation - Empowering Pupils

Protecting pupils from extremism and online exploitation can be a challenge. We worked with DfE and Counter Terrorism Police to develop FREE age-appropriate resources to build resilience to extremist narratives and start key safeguarding discussions - do share with your PSHE/RSHE leads:
