Here are your safeguarding updates from the LGfL DigiSafe team. Just three main items this week:
Ofsted inspection handbook updates – how do they affect safeguarding?
Safeguarding Shorts for DSLs & SLT - what you need to know about filtering in 20 minutes
Educate Against Hate - are you receiving the latest news from tsign up and share with colleagues from the extremism/radicalisation experts?
In the first of a new series of 20 minute "Safeguarding Shorts", we will spend 20 minutes at the start or end of the school day to cover what DSLs and SLT need to know about filtering. Don't leave it to the technical teams. Not sure if you need to? Then check out this below from a DfE presentation ⤵
This is just one of the updates to the Ofsted handbook in terms of safeguarding - check out ofstedsafe.lgfl.net for an overview of the rest. Inspections are beginning from today for some (unlike for good / outstanding schools but possible, so make sure you're ready.
Educate Against Hate offers advice and trusted resources to help schools comply with the Prevent duty, build resilience to all types of extremism and promote shared values. You can sign up for their monthly newsletter for access to teaching resources, lesson plans, guidance and practical advice on protecting children from extremism and radicalisation.
We're always looking to add new training courses. There is still space on this Thursday's RSHE - online safety and beyond course if you want to sign up. And why not hit reply to say what other courses you would like to see!
Finally, in case you missed our last newsletter - we had links to our new parent portal for parents, a cybersecurity alert, more staff CPD news and helpful links related to Everyone's Invited. Check it out here.
