In the run-up to Christmas, we wanted to do a quick check to make sure that you're getting the most out of the Sophos suite of security tools offered totally free to LGfL schools. It's so much more than antivirus (but it has that too!).

Do you have Sophos?

If you're not already using Sophos Central, please head here to claim your free licences. If you don't want to use Sophos to protect your computers, please take a moment to send a quick email to let us know why.

Would you like Sophos Encryption?

We're looking to extend the range of security products that are available to our schools. Sophos Device Encryption can be used to simplify the implementation and management of Window's Bitlocker Full Disk Encryption. If you think this would be useful for your school please get in touch to let us know. 

Are you using Sophos? All of it?

If you already have Sophos it's worth checking that you're actually using it. Sophos can be used to protect your desktops, laptops, and servers from viruses and malicious software. The sorts of things that can lead to systems falling victim to ransomware attacks. Try asking yourself the following questions.

Is Sophos installed?

Occasionally we come across schools that have taken up the offer of

free licences, then haven't used them. Please take a minute or two to check that you're using the licences you have.

Are your computers updating?

As important as it is to have Sophos installed, it's just as important to know that computers are updating. Why not take a moment to do some housekeeping? Remove those obsolete machines so you can see if current ones are still active and receiving updates.

Is protection turned on?

Now you know that you have Sophos installed, and your computers are receiving updates, it's a good idea to check that the protection is turned on. Check your Endpoint and Server Policies to make sure Sophos is providing all the protection it should.
