We have recently had so many new subscribers to our newsletter that we thought we should just remind everyone about this section. Quite often we will ask you for your input, thoughts and ideas; this is to help us provide the best and most relevant support to our community possible. We appreciate you giving us your time and your thoughts. So some months we like to give back and oh my goodness is this a month of giving!

Thanks to our brilliant Bridge The Divide Team at LGfL and our great friends at Helperbird we have a prize of a bundle of 5 Chromebooks and 5 licences for Helpbird Pro Accessibility Tools this month. The only conditions are that you need to subscribe to this newsletter and that the prize must go to a school. 

To enter, just click the button below and add your details. Later this month we will pick a name at random from those who have entered. If you are the lucky winner we'll be in touch to arrange the devices and licences. It's as simple as that.

Spotlight Resource of The Month - The Bereavement Toolkit

For a number of years, LGfL has been working with the incredible team at Child Bereavement UK to produce practical help and support for school communities on topics around grief and bereavement.

The latest addition is a resource called, Having Honest Conversations about Death and Grief. We have decided to combine this with our existing resources to create a Bereavement Toolkit giving schools a substantial package of support to help address these most challenging and sensitive topics. 

Polar Exploration - Antarctic Quest 21

In keeping with the values of the early explorers and Shackleton himself, Antarctic Quest 21 will travel into the untrodden regions of the Antarctic Peninsula to undertake essential science and exploration.

TechShare Pro is Back for 2021

AbilityNet TechShare Pro is Europe’s biggest event for accessibility and inclusive design and is back for a fifth year. The event will take place online on 16, 17 and 18 November 2021. It brings together digital accessibility and inclusion specialists from Europe and beyond, with three days of inspirational talks and insights from global industry leaders, covering themes such as business advantage, policy, culture change and leadership.

Mark Walker, Head of Marketing at AbilityNet, is delighted to announce this year’s event: “TechShare Pro 2020 attracted over 900 delegates from over 300 organisations, and this year we’re expecting the conference to be even bigger. Our vision is that we want to build ‘a digital world accessible to all’ so TechShare Pro is our way to bring people together to connect, learn, and broaden their experience in the digital accessibility arena.”

The Sleep Charity - Helpline To Share With Parents of Children Who Struggle With Sleep

Many young people and their families struggle with sleep. Many learners with special needs face additional challenges to sleep. This can add to the stress and pressure many parents of SEND learners are already under.  But there is help at hand.

The National Sleep helpline is run by trained sleep advisors who can talk to parents and help them identify new ideas to try, or signpost to support services, if appropriate.

The helpline is open 5 nights a week, Sunday to Thursday, 7-9pm and the number is 03303 530 541.
